The Grand Chateau du Sommesnil
The Chateau is situated in the beautiful area of Normandie know as the Caux. The Alabaster coast has beautiful beaches and imposing cliffs. The area has Castles, Gardens and Pretty villages in abundance with weekly markets. Further afield are the towns of Dieppe, Honfleur and the beautiful city of Rouen with its wonderful cathedral.

The Chateau stands on the site of a medieval Castle and was constructed by Louis XIII in 1620 as a hunting lodge for the King, the perimeter wall and the two Medici gates were built in honour of his mother Marie de Medici, both contain a pigeonnerie of which there is only one other example in Normandie. The Chateau was gifted to Nicholas Bigot who was Prime Minister of the parliament at Rouen. The Chateau stayed in the hands of the Bigot family and various additions and alterations were made to the property. The current owner has spent the last 11 years, restoring the property to it’s current high standards
