Who better to tour the abbey at Mont St Michel, walk the cemeteries, museums and beaches of Normandy & shop in quaint village markets than with a local? David’s knowledge and respect for the historic events that have taken place in Normandy instils a longing to want more; I’ll be back…
I feel like every American should visit this area to get a first hand glimpse of the battlefields where so many brave men lost their lives for us to continue living in a democratic nation of freedom! It is a memory of a lifetime!!
Whether staying for a holiday or a weekend break, I have little doubt you will fall in love with this characterful chateau and share a piece of genuine French history, I highly recommend a stay a this property
Over the last few years, I have watched with fascination as the “propriétaire” invested time and no small amounts of money in what has been the ultimate “labour of love” renovating the main chateau and extensive outbuildings, providing comfortable accommodation whilst retaining the character of this genuinely historic structure built by Louis XIII in 1620
David was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of WW1 and WW11 and went out of his way to take us to sites off the beaten path and personalize our tour with intimate details of those involved. I especially appreciated his reverence in the cemeteries for those left behind.
I was privileged to be one of four women traveling to France to primarily visit Normandy and the battlefields of WW11. The "icing on the cake" was our English guide, David, who resides most of the year in a beautiful Chateau in the French countryside of Normandy.
